“Come Shine with
Annual Star Trek Charity Bike Ride, under the leadership of Lancer’s..
Race begins at 9:00 a.m. at the STARworks
building (north of town). Proceeds go to Eckerd, Candor, helping at
risk youth. Eighteen to 53 mile routes. Register at
Lancer’s Furniture Sale 8-2 at Lancer St. 428-2181.
The Gathering, a time for everyone to visit with old friends, will be
at the Town Hall from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Food will be available with proceeds going to the Heritage
Association. Door prizes will be given.
Star Elementary School, Carolyn Vanhoy contact person, will have two
bouncy houses for the kids. Winnie the Pooh for small kids and a
Castle for the old children. Popcorn, juice and water will also be
available to purchase. Proceeds to benefit the school’s Relay for Life
Star Library will have the Fossil Dig for the kids, sign up for summer
reading program and several authors available for autographs. 428-2338
BJ and Sons will have the Annual Cruise-In beginning at 9:00
Briarpatch will open at 9:00 a.m. with
activities for the kids.
Ryan Johnson, owner of Johnson Machinery will sponsor the “Minute to
Win” activities across from the Library. Hugh Martin will assist and
act as the DJ.
Star Beer and Wine will have wine making demonstrations and serve
lemonade aid and homemade cookies.
Star Bed and Breakfast will have an Open House and serving a light
breakfast and lunch and tour.
Star Museum will be open from 9-11 and 2-3. The Museum has a lot of
new items for viewing.
The Z.T. Wright, built in 1889, will have an Open House, The house,
owned by Garrett Maynard, is located on Dover Street (off Owen
The Star Community Building (old bank) will be open for refreshments,
rest area and bathrooms.
First Baptist Church will have snow cones for everyone.
Star Presbyterian Church will have a Corn Hole Tournament.
