SATURDAY, JUNE 6th, 2015

9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

“Come Shine with Us”

1. 4th Annual Star Trek Charity Bike Ride, under the leadership of Lancer’s, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at the StarWorks building (north of town). Proceeds going to Eckerd, Candor, helping at risk youth. Eighteen to 53 mile routes. Register at www.bikereg.com/star-trek.

2. Lancer’s Furniture Sale 8-2 at Lancer St. 428-2181.

3. The Gathering, a time for everyone to visit with old friends, will be at the Town Hall from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Food will be available with proceeds going to the Heritage Association. Door prizes will be given.

4. Star Elementary School, Carolyn Vanhoy contact person, will have two bouncy houses for the kids. Winnie the Pooh for small kids and a Castle for the older children. Popcorn, juice and water will also be available to purchase. Proceeds to benefit the school’s Relay for Life team. 428-4333.

5. Star Library will have the Fossil Dig for the kids, sign up for summer reading program and several authors available for autographs. 428-2338

6. BJ and Sons will have the Annual Cruise-In beginning at 9:00 a.m.428-2678.

7. Briarpatch will open at 9:00 a.m. with chalk drawing contest for the children on the sidewalks in front of the store.

8. Ryan Johnson, owner of Johnson Machinery will sponsor the “Minute to Win” activities across from the Library. Hugh Martin will act as the DJ.

9. Star Beer and Wine will have wine making demonstrations and serve lemonade and homemade cookies.

10. Star Bed and Breakfast will have an Open House and serving a light breakfast and lunch and a tour of the Angus Leach residence. Martha Smith of Biscoe will be entertaining the visits on the key board.

11. Star Museum will be open from 9-11 and 2-3. The Museum has a lot of new items for viewing.

12. The Z.T. Wright, built in 1889, will have an Open House, The house, owned by Garrett Maynard, is located on Dover Street (off Owen Street). Garret will be the host and also will be selling and autographing his book.

13. The Star Community Building (old bank) will be open for refreshments, rest area and bathrooms. The Partnership of Children will also be located there.

14 First Baptist Church will have snow cones for everyone and will be signing up the kids for Vacation Bible School.

15. Star Presbyterian Church will have a Corn Hole Tournament with prizes going to the winners.

16. Star United Methodist Church will be signing up kids for Vacation Bible School. The Gospel Winds will be providing music through out the morning on the church grounds.

17. The Old Jail renovations will not be completed.

18. StarWorks’ Gallery will be open will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Starworks glass artist will have demonstrations from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The Starworks Ceramics will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. for purchasing supplies and equipment.

19. RHHC will be open for open house and other activities.

20. Wallace Jarrell will present his history display at the Town Hall.

21. Mike and Preston Allen will have some airplanes for display at the Air Port.

22. The Star Post Office will be open with light refreshments and give-a-ways for the kids.

24. Mr. Greenwell will be setup behind the Pink House with his model air planes.
